image The EGG® will cook most efficiently using natural lump charcoal. Big Green Egg lump charcoal is made from a selection of 100% hardwoods.
image It burns hotter and cleaner and lights faster and easier than briquettes. The amount of ash produced is a fraction of what briquettes produce, which means less frequent ash removal is required.
image Use either our electric lighter or our natural fire starters and you’ll be ready to cook in about 10 minutes; never use lighter fluid.

image Wood Smoking Chips will add a variety of delicious flavors to foods cooked over the coals. Each type of wood will impart a different flavor to every meat or other food with which it is used, resulting in an endless variety of new flavor combinations. For complete information on smoking foods, descriptions of each type of wood and suggestions of which ones enhance various foods click here. We have the following smoking chips available in 1-1/2 to 2-pound bags. Hickory and Mesquite chunks are available in 6-pound bags.

Natural Fire Starter

Natural Fire Starter ignites quickly, withoutlighter fluid taste. Pack of 24.

image Our Fire Starters are made from sawdust and paraffin and are very effective for quickly and easily lighting lump charcoal without imparting a chemical taste. A box contains 24 cubes.

Grilling Planks
Grilling Planks

image Plank cooking is an ancient culinary method which originated with the American Indians. The longstanding tradition of cooking on a plank has evolved into a popular at-home grilling technique that adds a whole new dimension to your grilling experience. Foods roast in their own juices, keeping meats, seafood and vegetables moist and infusing them with magnificent flavors as they absorb the fragrant wood smoke. The planks must be soaked in water for at least an hour before placing them on the cooking grid. This ensures they will smolder, which produces the best smoke flavor, and it keeps them from burning up quickly during cooking.

image Grilling Planks are 15″ long, are 2 per package, and are available in Cedar, Alder, and Maple.

image Compact tables are available for the Small, Medium and Large EGGs. They are 41 inches x 24.5 inches and are 32 inches tall. They are available with or without casters.

Nests
Nests

image Nests are available for the Small, Medium, Large and XL EGGs. A low tripod stand is available for the Mini EGG and Chiminea.

Side Shelves

Side Shelves

image Composite material EGG Shelves are available for the Small, Medium, Large and XL EGGs. Two shelves are included, one on each side of the EGG, and you can fold the shelves down when not in use. An optional third middle shelf is available for the Large and XL EGGs.

image Wooden EGG Mates are available for the Medium, Large and XL EGGs. Two shelves are included, one on each side of the EGG. You can fold the shelves down when not in use, or to fit the EGG under the optional Vinyl Cover.

Grill Covers

image Vinyl Covers are available for all of the EGGs in Nests except for the Mini. They are also available for all sizes of EGGs in Tables.

image Ventilated Vinyl Covers are made of a heavier material and have an integrated vent to allow moisture to escape.

Plate Setters
Plate Setters

image The Plate Setter is used for indirect cooking on the Big Green Egg. It is a ceramic heat shield that functions by providing a barrier between the food and the fire. The design of the Plate Setter (a flat ceramic disc with three “legs”) allows sufficient airflow around the surface while preventing the flames and direct heat of the fire from reaching the food. Nothing will contribute greater versatility to your outdoor cooking than adding a Plate Setter to your accessories collection.

Grill Gripper

image The Grill Gripper is used to easily and safely remove the cooking grid from the EGG® even when it is hot.

Ash Tool
Ash Tool

image An Ash Tool is used to remove the ash that collects at the bottom of the EGG. Using the bar at the end of the Ash Tool, you simply pull the ash out of the Stainless Steel Draft Door into a fireproof receptacle that can be easily emptied.

image Although the natural lump charcoal used to fuel the EGG produces little ash and requires minimal clean-up to begin with, the task becomes even easier with the new EGG Ash Pan.

image The wide-mouthed, metal Ash Pan can be hooked onto the vent door directly against the base of the grill. Ashes are then scraped into the practical tool just as you would with a dust pan. The pan slides out easily, allowing you to dispose of ashes with greater convenience and no mess.

image The EGG Ash Pan fits the XLarge, Large or Medium EGGs.

Temperature Gauge
Temperature Gauge

image An external Temperature Gauge is installed on the lid of the Big Green Egg. It measures the temperature inside the EGG to allow you to achieve the exact temperature you want, from below 250°F for smoking to over 750°F for searing. This Gauge shows the temperature in both Farenheit and Celsius.

We have a variety of thermometers available to help ensure that you can cook your food to just the right doneness. Select the type that you prefer.

Stick and Stay Thermometer

image When inserted into the center of the meat as you begin cooking, the Stick and Stay Thermometer will let you monitor the internal temperature during the cooking period and tell when your meat is cooked to the desired doneness.

Instant Read Thermometer

image This thermometer is inserted into food for a quick reading of the internal temperature of food, then removed immediately. A glass bezel and red dial provide for easy temperature reading.
Instant Read Digital Thermometer

image The Instant Read Digital Thermometer gives you a quick digital readout of the internal temperature of foods. This thermometer should be removed immediately after reading it.
Digital Probe Thermometer

image This premium unit allows you to insert the probe into the food and extend the wire out between the base and the lid of the EGG to monitor the temperature from the outside with a digital readout. You have the ability to set low and high temperature alarms and it has a built-in timer.
Drip Pans
Drip Pans

image The Drip Pans feature an easy to clean, non-stick surface and have the Big Green Egg logo embossed in the bottom of the pan. The 13-inch x 9-inch Rectangular Drip Pan works perfectly with the V-Rack for cooking turkey, roasts, chickens and other larger cuts of meat. The 9-inch Round Drip Pan is just right under either the Vertical Chicken Roaster or the Vertical Turkey Roaster.

image The cast iron Dutch Oven is ideal for cooking stews, soups and chili or even applesauce in the Big Green Egg. You can also boil, simmer and even bake cobblers in it. It holds 5 quarts and has a bail handle.

Porcelain Coated Cooking Grids

image If you’re using the Large or XL EGG® to cook fish or small foods like mushrooms, shrimp or scallops that might fall through the regular cooking grid, use the 16-inch x 12-inch cooking grid or the 16-inch round cooking grid to enjoy all the benefits of the EGG without being concerned about food falling into the coals. The grids are made of porcelain coated steel and have perforations to ensure the heat and flavor reach the food.

image The perforations on this grid ensure that heat and flavor reach the food, and make it easy to cook fish or small foods like mushrooms, shrimp or scallops that might fall through the regular cooking grid. The half-moon design leaves the other half of your cooking space available for direct heat. The grids, which fit the large EGG, are made of porcelain coated steel.

12-inch Wok Topper

image The 12-inch square Wok Topper fits the XL and Large EGGs and makes it easy to cook cut-up or julienne vegetables, meat or seafood stir frys, chicken tenders or any other smaller pieces of food that might slip through the regular cooking grid. It is made from porcelain coated steel and has perforations to ensure the food will absorb the same wonderful flavor it would on the regular cooking grid.

image For those perfect sear marks on your food, try a Cast Iron Grid as an alternative to the primary Porcelain Coated Grid. The cast iron gets very hot and retains the heat, turning it into a perfect searing surface. Cast Iron Grids are available for the Large, Medium and Small EGGs. A half-moon Cast Iron Grid is available for the XL EGG®. This can be paired with a half-moon Porcelain Grid to retain a full grid.

Vertical Roasters
Vertical Roasters

image Vertical roasters will hold a chicken or turkey upright during cooking, minimizing the space needed and ensuring even browning and cooking of the birds. It also makes for easier carving and a spectacular presentation at the table. Sittin’ Chicken can be used the same way as the vertical roasters, but the center holds liquid such as fruit juice or beer to add moisture and flavor to the roasting chicken.

Grill Extenders

image Grill extenders are available in single-tier or 3-tier versions to substantially increase the amount of cooking space on your EGG. The multiple tier extenders also raise some foods high in the dome, providing increased heat during roasting and baking.

image There are several ways that you can configure the raised grid with inserted drip pan.
image First, use the raised grid only to give you the ability to cook directly on one side of the grill and indirectly on the other side.
image Second, use the raised grid with a plate setter, which will give full use of the main grid for indirect cooking and a raised grid for vegetables or more meat.
image Third, use the raised grid with a plate setter and a half moon baking stone, to allow you to bake bread while you are cooking vegetables and meat on the open side of the main grid.

image Our dual purpose V-Rack can be used upright to hold roasts and poultry and can be flipped over to serve as an efficient rib rack that can hold up to six vertically placed racks of ribs in much less space than if they were cooked horizontally. The V-Rack can be used in the XL, Large, and Medium EGG .The VRPS is designed for the Small.
